Sheridan to celebrate more than 10,000 graduates at Spring 2025 Convocation
Sheridan will proudly celebrate more than 10,000 graduates in the fields of business, the arts, community studies, applied health, the humanities, and science and technology during 13 spring convocation ceremonies this week at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont.
As the largest graduating class in Sheridan’s history, this milestone will expand the college’s alumni community to more than 235,000 members. Sheridan’s 65th convocation takes place from Monday, June 2 to Thursday, June 5, recognizing graduates from Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS), the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design (FAAD), the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies (FAHCS), the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST), the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHASS), the Pilon School of Business (PSB), and Sheridan at CCTT (Canadian College of Technology and Trades).
“Postsecondary education transforms people, families and communities. We take great pride in celebrating Sheridan's newest alumni as they begin the next chapter of their lives.”
– Sheridan President and Vice Chancellor Dr. Janet Morrison
Graduands will be welcomed to Convocation with an honour song by the Spirit Vision Singers and Dancers and remarks by Chief Claire Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Indigenous graduates will be presented with a hand-beaded thunderbird pin created by beading artist Bead and Bloomwork on behalf of Sheridan’s Office of Indigenous Engagement and Education.
“Convocation is the culmination of our learners’ journeys at Sheridan, and a celebration of the potential they’ve unlocked,” said Dr. Janet Morrison, Sheridan President and Vice Chancellor. “It’s an incredibly special time for our graduates, their families, professors and everyone who has supported them along the way. Convocation gives us the opportunity to honour and recognize their achievements and resilience as they cross the stage and enter the next phase of their personal and professional lives.”
Highlights of the ceremonies will include musical performances by 2025 Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre program graduates Zalyzza Govia and Julia Schwartz; a reading by Poet Laureate Nicola Dodds (Bachelor of Creative Writing & Publishing ‘25) of her poem entitled Bloom Affirmations; and a keynote address by President and Vice Chancellor Dr. Janet Morrison. Each ceremony will be livestreamed.
“Postsecondary education transforms people, families and communities,” said Dr. Morrison. “We take great pride in celebrating Sheridan’s newest alumni as they begin the next chapter of their lives. I know that they will bring new ideas and fresh perspectives to every challenge they encounter and be a catalyst for real change.”
