Kim NguyenOffice Administration, Health Services, graduate Kim Nguyen left her mark on the Pilon School of Business through academic excellence, a commitment to excel in her field placement at Trillium Health Partners, and her contribution to student life as an executive member of the Office Administration Club.

What are some of the highlights of your time at Sheridan?

I am able to look back now and be proud of all the hard work I put into getting my diploma. After countless assignments, tests, and my field placement, I can say that I've learned a lot in a field that I initially had reservations about being able to succeed in.

What did you learn during your field placement that's been helpful as you begin your career?

I was a Clinic Clerical Assistant at the Renal Dialysis Department of Trillium's Credit Valley Hospital. My biggest takeaway was being exposed to their electronic medical records system. I now use this critical tool every day (in my role at) University Health Network. I also built upon my knowledge of managing health records and experienced what it's like to work in a hospital environment.

“Get to know your professors and make connections with your peers. The Office Administration faculty are passionate about their work and always willing to help out. I am thankful for their guidance and knowledge.”

What did you enjoy most about your role at Trillium?

Office Admin ClubI enjoyed working on patient charts so that nurses and staff could readily access updated information when caring for patients. I also enjoyed conversing with patients and reassuring them when I could.

What's your advice for Sheridan students? What do you wish you'd known when you started at Sheridan?

Get to know your professors and make connections with your peers. The Office Administration faculty are passionate about their work and always willing to help out. I am thankful for their guidance and knowledge.

What's next for you?

I started a position at UHN's Emergency department and look forward to continuously learning new skills in a new, challenging environment.
